Remodelled playground: always improving

Last weekend we paid another visit to our dear school. We held a little campaign with our friends from Banco Central do Brasil, to raise funds to fix the playground, which was exposing the kids to some risk of accidents.

We also share some improvements that had to be done, and the recent campaign helped us pay this other work: the front wall was unstable and had to be put down and rebuilt and the electric wiring that provides energy to the school was changed.

Our plans forr this year include the provision of some equipment so that the school can offer better services. These include the couchs used by the younger kids to take their naps, and improve the area of the library with adequate books and audiovisual equipment.

Construction update February 11

Everything is practically finished for the beginning of classes this year, scheduled for the 25th. The towels and paper hangs were fixed, all the rooms and toilets have lighting and the classroom has two ventilators to refresh the environment. The windows were painted on bright blue, bringing some happiness around. The constructor, Mr Iraci, who shows the shower functioning, decided to go after more donations and painted the ceiling of the old varanda on white, is building an improvised library and painted the new classroom in two colors. Just to remind: this project built a new room to serve as nursery for the youger kids, giving space in the old one (now very colorful) to the fourth graders.
lavatories (to come a donation of a water drinking fountain, already ordered)

The ceiling received a white paint. Check the new drainage for the roof.

The kids' bathroom ready for use

Mr Iraci, the man in charge, donates his spare time for this construction, shows the shower functioning. Note that we are in our carnaval holliday, and he spends all his minutes on site.

Our room! Blue windows, new vents, new lighting!

The old room from where the nursery is moving, will house the fourth grade. It is very colorful!

Now some extras: a campaign headed by two central bank's colleagues allowed them to achieve the school material for the year! Today we went to the kids' shelter and distributed the backpacks filled with bright new school stuff. Check their faces!
